Love the points that Rosie and Rhys make here about AI. Even as a tech person I see the major shortcomings of AI, the way that LLMs and generative AI models scrape content indiscriminately and without credit or compensation to the people who create that content, whether they are creative people or in STEM fields doing research or writing code. There's no actual intelligence behind AI - it is soulless, it doesn't know when it's wrong, it can't make the leaps of logic that the human brain can make or infuse emotion into art. It's a cheap copy, and in some cases it's downright dangerous when the data set being scraped hasn't been properly vetted and validated. And that's not even touching on the environmental impact of the massive datacenters that are consuming vast quantities of natural resources to output faulty and inferior results.
